Hi there
As a painter and a writer, I try to capture the wonder and textures of being alive. A piece is finished when light and a moment are suspended, held between the lines of a poem or emanating from within a watercolor. Some pieces come in a flash. Some take years.
I grew up in Eagle River, Alaska, and I never left, because how could I? Even our yard is a little wild. The landscapes here are gorgeous and grand and endlessly generous with inspiration. I've been writing about them since 2013 and painting them since 2018, and I'm still just getting started.
I paint in watercolor and occasionally in acrylic. I write poetry. Painting and writing allow me to explore ideas from such different raw material that I always feel like I have something to work on.
You can find my prints and originals at local markets throughout the summer, and my work is on display on the art wall at All Life is Yoga in Eagle River this July. If something calls to you, a print, an original, or a commission we can collaborate on I'd love to hear from you at mindiettavogel@gmail.com
And if you want to follow along as my paintings and poetry come to life, head over to Still Drying, where I share fresh paintings and poems.
